UPDATE: Brush Fire In South Brevard Grows to 600 Acres, Prompts Road Closures, Now 50-Percent Contained

Palm Bay Fire Rescue recommends motorists avoid Micco Road

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – More than 25 units from Brevard County Fire Rescue, Palm Bay Fire, Florida Forest Service and Brevard County helicopters are now battling a 600-acre brush fire in Palm Bay near Micco Preserve on Sunday.

Brevard County Emergency Management Office now says 50 percent of the fire is contained at this time. Currently, no property is in danger.

According to Palm Bay Fire, Babcock Street is now shut down in the area of Sotile Canal and Micco Road.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol recommends motorists avoid the Micco Road area.

The blaze has jumped to the east side of Babcock Street with air drops still in the area. Palm Bay Fire urges to please use caution in the area.
