K-9 Waylon tracked 16-year-old suspect who fled scene after being arrested

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 Deputy Adam Steurwald’s partner-in-crime K-9 Waylon helped Cocoa Police Department’s Bravo Squad officers find a 16-year-old suspect who fled the scene after being arrested.
On Monday, March 28, around 3:30 p.m. the BCSO team responded to assist Cocoa Police’s Bravo Squad officers who had just arrested a 16-year-old for an aggravated assault with a firearm, according to Cocoa Police officials.
This teenager fled from Cocoa Police’s officers and ditched a loaded firearm along the way.
K-9 Waylon was on the case and tracked from several backyards to a small palmetto flat where he immediately stopped and sat as he is trained to do to indicate he found what he was searching for.
Deputy Steuerwald then searched the area and found the gun.
