Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Suspect for Trafficking Meth in ‘Repeat Felony Offender of the Week’

Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

It all started on Wednesday night when Bursey was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by BCSO Deputy Michael Tufano, for a traffic infraction at the intersection of Wickham Rd. and the Hunting Green Apartment complex in Melbourne. (BCSO Image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While not one single person on the planet actually believed that it wasn’t Austin Powers’ bag, not one single person on a jury would believe that it wasn’t Bradford Bursey’s bag either, especially when it was found laying right beside him as he was squirming around during a traffic stop.

It all started on Wednesday night when Bursey was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by BCSO Deputy Michael Tufano, for a traffic infraction at the intersection of Wickham Rd. and the Hunting Green Apartment complex in Melbourne.

During the stop, probable cause was developed to have both the driver and passenger step out of the vehicle as the presence of drugs were observed inside.

As Bursey and the driver stood at the front of Deputy Tufano’s patrol car, Bursey was observed to be moving around a considerable amount, as Deputy Tufano went over to him, he immediately located a plastic bag near Bursey’s feet containing a clear crystal like substance.

The substance inside the baggie weighed approximately 62.2 grams and field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

A search of the interior of the vehicle did not disappoint either, as it revealed a plastic baggie containing 28 Adderall pills that were hidden between the console and Bursey’s passenger seat. In addition, a third baggie was found containing 8 Oxycodone pills that was ironically laying on the ground just beneath the passenger door.

After both subjects were read their rights and agreed to speak with Deputy Tufano, they both denied ownership of all of the items. I mean imagine the odds of them being stopped for a traffic stop, at the exact location where some careless drug dealer had thrown away a perfectly good bag of methamphetamine and another perfectly good bag of Oxycodone.

And then on top of that, there is another baggie with 28 perfectly good Adderall pills, that is tucked between the console and the passenger seat right where Bursey was sitting.

I guess Deputy Tufano wasn’t fooled one bit by the ole’ “that’s not my bag baby” as Bursey was taken into custody for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Without A Prescription.

Bursey, who was no stranger to felony charges, as he had been previously convicted for possession of cocaine, carrying a concealed firearm, burglary, and grand theft, was given a free ride to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” by our lodge shuttle crew where he was detained and given a $39,000 bond!

Only two things scare me…Drug Dealers and Dr. Evil.

If you don’t think Deputy Tufano will put your butt in jail for being a drug dealer…Mess Around And Find Out.

Great Job Deputy Tufano.
