Sheriff Ivey: I have authorized the immediate termination of his employment
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey expressed his extreme disappointment with Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Probationary Deputy Tyler Morra, who was arrested Thursday evening by the agency for Battery Domestic Violence after allegedly battering his live-in girlfriend.
Morra is currently being detained at the Brevard County Jail Complex on a No Bond status.
The arrest occurred after deputies responded in reference to a disturbance Thursday night at the residence. The investigation determined that Morra and his girlfriend were involved in an argument that allegedly resulted with Morra striking the victim.
According to the responding deputies, the victim had injuries consistent with allegations and Morra was taken into custody without incident.
“I am extremely disappointed in the actions of this individual and have authorized the immediate termination of his employment,” said Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
“Policing our own and holding those who refuse to abide by our laws accountable is paramount to maintaining the reputation and credibility of the amazing men and women of this agency who work around the clock to proudly serve and protect our communities.”
Morra recently initiated his employment with the Sheriff’s Office and was currently in the Field Training Program.
His court date is scheduled for April 25 in front of judge Katie Jacobus.
