BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County judge accidentally released a man recently who was sentenced to 23 years in prison for an armed carjacking.

Brevard County Sheriff’s spokesman Tod Goodyear says that Cedrick Gant, 29, turned himself over to U.S. marshals in Orlando on Monday afternoon.

Records show Gant was sentenced in February after pleading guilty to carjacking.

Goodyear says the Brevard judge didn’t know about the federal sentence for reasons unknown.

There will likely be an internal investigation to determine why Gant was released.
