The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Florida Forest Service has deployed a Type 2 Initial Attack Hand-Crew of 20 firefighters to help suppress the Ferguson Fire on the Sierra National Forest in California. The 36,500-acre wildfire began on July 13.
Crews from Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service battled an approximate 3 acre brush fire on Merritt Street in Scottsmoor on Monday afternoon.
Brevard County Fire Rescue, with the assistance of Palm Bay Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service, responded to a brush fire in the 6800 block of Las Pamos Drive in Grant-Valkaria. The fire was contained to approximately three acres. No homes were damaged, no injuries occurred, and no evacuations took place.
Melbourne Fire Rescue, assisted by Brevard County Fire Rescue and Florida Forest Service, are at the scene of a brush fire on Saturday near John Rodes Boulevard in Melbourne. According to fire officials, the blaze is not a threat to property as of 6 p.m. Currently, there is no report as to how the fire may have started.
