In the month since Hurricane Dorian devastated the Abaco islands in the Bahamas much has happened, but unfortunately a lot has stayed the same; schools remain closed and basic foodstuffs, cleaning products and water remain scarce.

PHILANTHROPY SPOTLIGHT: Health First Collects More Than 40,000 Relief Items for the Bahamas

About 30 Health First associates coordinated a collection to assist those in the Bahamas who were devastated by Hurricane Dorian. With more than 9,000 Health First associates, 40,348 items were donated over a two-day period across various drop-off locations across the system.

Tenacious, Dangerous Hurricane Dorian Reintensifies to CAT 3, Now Threatens Carolina Coast

After leveling the Bahamas as a CAT 5, and then brushing the Space Coast ominously, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said at 11 p.m. Wednesday that Hurricane Dorian had strengthened once again to Category 3 with maximum sustained winds at 115 mph, and located about 105 miles south of Charleston, S.C., moving north at 7 mph.
