U.S. Coast Guard dispatched two cutters and an airplane to search

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — U.S. Coast Guard crews are searching for a 43-year-old man who officials say jumped from the Carnival Mardi Gras shortly after midnight Saturday about 55 miles east of Port Canaveral.
Coast Guard officials said they dispatched two cutters and an airplane to search for the man. The Mardi Gras and the Carnival cruise ship Elation were also on the scene during the search.
“The Carnival Care Team is supporting the guest’s family. Mardi Gras,” said Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Matt Lupoli. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family.”
Mardi Gras is now back at Port Canaveral and will be sailing its next itinerary, according to Lupoli.
Authorities have not yet identified the man who jumped.
