Cocoa Police Seek Community’s Help After Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash on SR-524

Cocoa Police need the public’s help in an investigation involving the death of a 25-year-old man.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police are asking for the public’s help in an investigation involving the death of a 25-year-old man.

Police say on Sunday, January 16, the man was killed after a being struck by an unknown vehicle in the area of SR-524 near Industry Road during the early morning hours.

The crash occurred between 1 a.m.-1:30 a.m.

The victim is believed to have been walking home, heading eastbound on SR-524 when he was struck.

The vehicle that hit him was also believed to have been heading eastbound on SR-524, where driver of the vehicle then proceeded to flee the scene of the crash.

The unknown vehicle should have damage to the front bumper and front grille, police say.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area of SR-524 or at any of the businesses in the Cocoa Commons Plaza, 2301 Clearlake Rd., between 1-1:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 16, to please contact the Cocoa Police Department or call the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
