Eastern Florida State College Makes History with 47 Student-Athletes Named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams

It was a banner season for Eastern Florida State College student-athletes as a school-record 47 were named to NJCAA All-Academic teams on Friday. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It was a banner season for Eastern Florida State College student-athletes as a school-record 47 were named to NJCAA All-Academic teams on Friday.

Five Eastern Florida State College student-athletes were named NJCAA All-Academic First Team members with perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

Women’s golfers Elise Boccabella and Sloan Lanier along with women’s soccer player Emily Bodi, men’s basketball player Brody Boyer and women’s volleyball player Laura Azevedo all finished all achieved a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout the academic year.

Bodi and Azevedo were named to the first team in both their freshmen and sophomore seasons.

15 Titans were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team for having a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99.

Women’s tennis player Ivett Castaneda, men’s soccer players Hugo Catherine, Marc Grifell, Aedon Kyra, Cameron Yeutter, women’s soccer players Sophie Jackson, Morgan Miller, Sofie Soerum and Morgan Zuhlke, women’s basketball players Anja Knoflach and Destiny Walters, women’s volleyball players Emily Mullen and Renae Watson along with men’s golfer Pontas Torgner and women’s tennis player Kacey Walker all excelled in the classroom.

27 players were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team which is more than the total amount of student-athletes named last season.

Softball players Alexis Neiberline and Makenzie Wilson, baseball players Rafael Acosta, Kyle Dentmon, Dominic Baratta and Tyler Vogel, women’s basketball players Jacquelyn Levay and Victoria Lewis, men’s basketball players Noah Louis and Amar Tiganj, women’s soccer players Francesca Espinoza, Lauren Bowden, Alexis Peri, Marthe Taugbol, Kiera Gibson, women’s tennis players Martina Garcia and Rachel Weaver, women’s volleyball players Sarah Langenbach, Nikole Souza and Cassandra Gregory, men’s soccer players Levonte Johnson, Chris Dilan, Ian Leighton and Collin Robidoux, men’s tennis player Tomas Reche and men’s golfers Josh Yang and Josh Stern all finished with a grade point average between 3.60 and 3.79.

Overall an NJCAA record 9,555 participants earned a spot on one of the three NJCAA All-Academic teams. This year’s record eclipsed the previous mark of 6,656 set in the 2018-19 academic year.
