doubles team advances to the ITA Cup on Oct. 13-16 in Georgia
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis doubles team of Lucas Gonzalez and Jack Dixon won the ITA Regionals doubles title Sunday in Tifton, Georgia.
Gonzalez and Dixon came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and won three matches to get to the final.
Then on Sunday, the duo defeated the No. 3 seed Aymen Alimoussa and Safar Rasulov 6-2 and 7-5.
Eric Tripathi made it to the final in singles, defeating teammate Jett Leong in the semifinal 6-0, 6-1. But in the final, the No. 2 seed Tripathi fell short against No. 6 Safar Rasulov 7-5, 6-1. Rasulov defeated Eastern Florida State College’s Jack Dixon in the semifinal to reach the finals.
The doubles team advances to the ITA Cup on Oct. 13-16 in Rome, Georgia.
