Bukumirovic had 13 points, 6 boards against Indian River State College
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College basketball players Andrija Bukumirovic and Amelia Hassett led their teams to perfect weeks and are the Orlando Health Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 20.
Men’s basketball player Andrija Bukumirovic helped the Titans go 2-0 last week to earn the honor for the first time.
Bukumirovic scored 13 points and six rebounds against Indian River State College and then went to No. 2 Daytona State College and handed the Falcons their first loss with 24 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
The freshman from Serbia is averaging 9.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Women’s basketball player Amelia Hassett is the player of the week for the third time this season. Hassett recorded double-doubles in both games last week as the Titans went 2-0.
Hassett scored 18 with 12 rebounds, five blocks, and four assists against Indian River State College and then had 23 points with 11 rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and two assists in a little more than two quarters against Daytona State College.
The sophomore from Albury New South Wales, Australia has recorded 15 double-doubles this season and is averaging 19.2 points and 13.4 rebounds per game this season.
The 13.4 rebounds per game leads Region 8 and is tied for fourth in the nation. Her 19.2 points per game is second in the state.
The basketball teams will travel to Miami Dade College to face the Sharks in Citrus Conference games on Tuesday evening.
The women’s basketball team will host Florida Southwestern on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in a conference game.
