BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The undefeated Edgewood girls soccer team will look to extend their season tonight when they travel to Palm Beach Gardens to take on the Benjamin Buccaneers in the Class 3A Regional Final.

Benjamin (14-1-1) will be a tough matchup tonight for the Merritt Island-based Edgewood Red Wolves as the Buccaneers have only allowed a total of seven goals this year.

Edgewood (18-0) has a had a magical year and has relied on their youthful talent to propel them to a season that is one of the program’s best teams in school history.

2021-2022 Edgewood Girls Soccer Team

Edgewood Coach Eddie Al-Shihabi, in his first year as the girls’ head coach after a long career coaching the boys’ team, has brought his aggressive pass-and-move philosophy to the squad, along with a new offensive mindset that shines through clearly in the field of play.

The team is also having a lot fun scoring goals this year after having outscored their opposition by a combined 69-11 this year.

The teams take the pitch at 7 p.m. tonight.

Should Edgewood win tonight, they would punch their ticket to the State Semifinal on Feb. 18 and would play the winner of the Palmer Trinity vs North Broward Prep.
