BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Luis Tovar Romero of the Florida Tech men’s soccer team has been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.

This is the Seville, Spain product’s first time receiving the award this season and the first of his career.

Florida tech posted a 1-1 week with a 2-1 win against Eckerd and a 2-2- tie against Florida Southern.

In a 2-1 victory at Eckerd, Tovar Romero, Sr. recorded three saves while facing seven total shots and four on goal.

He then faced seven total shots and five on goal against Florida Southern. He recorded three saves vs. FSC to earn the draw for the Panthers 2-2.

The men’s soccer team is back in action Wednesday, Oct. 5 at home vs. Lynn. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
