each of the top three teams received a cash prize

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A team of students from the Bisk College of Business placed second in a recent International Business Case Competition.
The virtual event held in the spring was sponsored by Georgia State University’s Center for International Business Education & Research.
Teams from colleges in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington, D.C, and Florida had to research a specific situation and prepare a 15-minute video with their recommendations.
The situation involved the bottled water industry in Uzbekistan and the competition between multinational companies (Nestle, Coco-Cola) and local companies (Family Group, Hydrolife).
The top three teams were selected for the final round, where they made a 25-minute live presentation (via Zoom) to a panel of judges from industry and academia.
The Florida Tech team of Tommy Nguyen, Joshua Brathwaite, Sebastien Cayemitte, and Chad Blasius, advised by Tim Muth, a College of Business instructor, won second place for their presentation.

They proposed a three-part solution to increasing Family Group’s market share: Brand value by standardizing quality and utilizing traditional packaging design; a bottle water subscription plan for families; and a retail/wholesale partnership involving private labeling of the water.
Each of the top three teams received a cash prize and GSU merchandise.
