BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Josh Ford and Austin Sewell were honored on Tuesday as they were named to the 2023 College Sports Communications Academic All-District Team.
The 2023 NCAA Division II Academic All-District Baseball Team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America to provide recognition for the nation’s top student-athletes with the best-combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
This is the first CSC Academic Honor for both Scholar-Athletes.
Ford appeared in 41 games this season with 37 starts. He finished second on the team with a .331 batting average, recording 39 hits, four doubles, three home runs, and 25 RBI. Defensively, he tallied 42 putouts with four assists.
Ford is working toward his degree in Behavior Analysis, recording a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
He has been named to the Florida Tech Athletic Directors and Sunshine State Commissioners Honor Roll every year.
Sewell appeared in 39 games, making 28 starts. He complied a .261 batting average with 31 hits, seven doubles, one triple, and one home run. Defensively, he recorded 63 putouts with 63 assists.
Sewell also made two appearances on the mound for the Panthers, throwing 1.2 innings and allowing only one hit.
The sophomore is majoring in Mathematical Sciences while holding an impressive 3.75-grade point average.
Ford and Sewell will advance to the CSC Academic All-America Ballot. Academic All-America selections will be announced on June 7.
