Senior racked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Panthers' Coastal Classic victory
BREVARD COUNTY• MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After leading Florida Tech to a Coastal Classic victory over rival West Florida on Saturday, Romell Guerrier has been named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week.
This is the first career player of the week award for Guerrier. The senior wide receiver caught a game-high six passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns to help the Panthers mount the largest comeback in program history, coming back from 18 points down to defeat No. 19 UWF 30-28 on the road at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The victory earned Florida Tech the Coastal Classic Trophy for the first time in program history. One of Guerrier’s two scores went for 79 yards and was the game-winner with 5:39 remaining in the fourth quarter. It was his third multi-touchdown game of the season.
Guerrier has been one of the top receivers in the GSC this season and currently leads the league in receptions (43) and yards (687), and is tied for the league-lead with nine touchdowns.
Florida Tech is back in action this Saturday, Oct. 27, as the Panthers take on West Alabama on the road in Livingston, Alabama. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium.
