CARTER: I have to credit much of my success to Florida Tech
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Former Florida Tech men’s basketball standout Chris Carter recently added another championship trophy to his resume.
Carter, captain of the Rostock Seawolves in the German Pro-A Basketball League, led his team to the most successful year in the club’s history.
On May 21st, the Seawolves claimed victory with a 78-77 feat, and 3-0 mark, over the Tigers Tübingen in the Pro-A championship.
The win advanced the team to the BBL, the top division of German pro basketball.
“I have to credit much of my success to Florida Tech.,” said Carter.
“Playing under coach Mims gave me the opportunity to not only learn from a former pro coach and understand that coaching style but to also learn from a leader. The leadership skills he taught me have stayed with me during my pro career”.
The point guard finished his seventh professional season, and the second stint, with the Seawolves where he averaged 8.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Before the Seawolves, in 2019-20, Carter was a member of Chemnitz where he averaged 9.7 points, 5.1 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.
He helped lead the team to a league-best 25-2 record before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.
Carter already has experience leading a team to a championship during his professional career.
Before joining the Chemnitz, the Port St. Lucie, Florida native was a member of Rasta Vechta, also of the Pro-A League, for two seasons in 2017-18 and 2018-19. He helped the club win the Pro-A championship and move up to the BBL.
Carter signed his first professional contract with Bipa Odesa of the Ukrainian Superleague, the top level of basketball in Ukraine.
The success for Carter doesn’t stop on the court. The 2015 graduate, earning his degree in Business Administration, became a published author in two languages with the release of his book ‘Ivy” and owns a headband company, Pg Lingo.

Prior to coming to Florida Tech, Carter played for NCAA Division I Air Force during his freshman year. He played in 23 games for the Falcons and averaged 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game as a role player.
When he came to Tech, he had an even greater impact over his three seasons in Melbourne as he averaged 16.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game over 85 career games. Florida Tech made the SSC Tournament every year he was a member of the Panthers.
As a sophomore, in his first season with the Panthers, Carter was named to the All-SSC Second Team and Newcomer Team after averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 steals per game while shooting 45.6% from the field.
During his junior season, Carter scored 20-plus points in 12 games, had eight double-doubles, and ranked third in Division II in total assists (214) and assists per game (7.379).
He also averaged 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game as a junior. As a senior, Carter put up 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game for the Panthers.
