Gov. Ron DeSantis Appoints Assistant State Attorney Jigisa Patel-Dookhoo Judge On 18th Judicial Circuit Court

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently announced the appointment of Rockledge resident Jigisa Patel-Dookhoo to the 18th Judicial Circuit Court.

Patel-Dookhoo, who has been an Assistant State Attorney since 2016, will serve Brevard and Seminole counties as a judge on the 18th Judicial Circuit Court.

Currently, she is the Division Chief in the Domestic Violence Unit. Patel-Dookhoo received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Western Michigan University.

Patel-Dookhoo fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Lisa Davidson.

The Eighteenth Judicial Circuit was created by the legislature in 1967 and is composed of Brevard and Seminole Counties.

The 18th Circuit has a large geographical area with over eighty miles between the main courthouse in Viera (Melbourne) and the Criminal Justice Center in Sanford. There are a total of six courthouses in the circuit with main facilities located at Viera and Sanford.
