Due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19
The wellness and health of Brevard – including our customers, providers, associates and visitors – remains the focus of Health First.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19, Health First is implementing a strict no-visitation policy for its four hospitals – Cape Canaveral Hospital, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Palm Bay Hospital and Viera Hospital effective, Wednesday, August 11, at 5 a.m.
Exceptions include a single visitor that is a legal guardian or Power of Attorney or father/partner and doula for obstetrical delivery. A minor child may have one parent at a time visit.
All approved exceptions must check-in through security.
Patients admitted outside of visitation hours, inclusive of a surgery or procedure, will be allowed to have one visitor accompany them to the unit and only stay until the patient is settled into their room.
Emergency Department Guidelines:
In the event a patient is not able to give or receive medical information, a visitor may accompany them into the ED for the purpose of evaluation and disposition – as defined by the ED provider.
For an adult (parent/guardian) presenting for treatment in the ED with an accompanying child, that child may be allowed to remain with the adult.
Friends and family members are encouraged to utilize smartphones, tablets and other technology to have virtual visits with their loved ones who are hospitalized.
