Schindel, 33, is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on $35,000 Bond
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested 33-year-old Jeffrey Schindel of Melbourne after he traveled to a location in Brevard County expecting to meet a minor child for the purpose of having sexual relations.
Schindel was taken into custody and charged with Traveling to Meet a Minor after Using a Computer to Lure a Child.
The investigation began on June 30, 2020, after the Sheriff’s Office received information that Schindel was sending inappropriate messages to a minor.
An agent with the Sheriff’s SORT Unit acting in an uncover capacity as a minor child made contact with Schindel on a social media platform.
As the conversations continued between Schindel and the undercover agent, Schindel asked the agent who he believed to be a minor to engage in sexual activity.
On July 15, 2020, Schindel contacted the agent and arranged a meeting place for the purpose of having sexual relations with the child. Schindel was arrested when he arrived at the pre-determined location.
Schindel is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on $35,000 Bond.
The Sheriff’s Office investigation is continuing in an effort to determine if Schindel may have victimized any other children.
