Lamb has been serving as the city’s Interim City Manager since January
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne City Council voted unanimously to hire Jenni Lamb as Melbourne’s permanent City Manager during the May 9 City Council meeting.
Lamb has been serving as the city’s Interim City Manager since January 20, 2023, when former City Manager Shannon Lewis resigned to take a job in the private sector. She has been with the City of Melbourne for almost 24 years.
“She has done an amazing job,” said Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey.
“She is someone who not only loves her city but loves her job. If we were to get 100 people to apply, we wouldn’t get a Ms. Lamb.”
Lamb started in the city’s Engineering Department in September 1999 and was promoted to City Engineer in 2005, where she served until becoming Deputy City Manager in 2019.
She has overseen several major infrastructure and development projects, including the design and construction of the current City Hall building, numerous road resurfacing projects, and key stormwater pollution reduction projects that benefit the Indian River Lagoon.
“The institutional knowledge that Ms. Lamb has for the City of Melbourne, the experience she has, and the relationships she has already built are invaluable,” said Council Member Julie Sanders.
Prior to coming to the City of Melbourne, Lamb worked at the City of Palm Bay and the engineering firm Jones Edmunds and Associates. She holds a B.S. in environmental engineering from the University of Florida and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
Council has authorized Mayor Alfrey to negotiate a contract that will come before Council at a future meeting.
