Unique Baynard, 28, arrested for Attempted Murder

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police have arrested a 28-year-old Unique Baynard for attempted murder after a shooting at the intersection of Florida Avenue and James Street around 5:09 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police say alerted to a call about a shooting near the intersection of Florida Avenue and James Street. When police arrived, they discovered a 46-year-old man from Melbourne was shot at by Baynard from the backseat of a white vehicle.
Minutes later, the suspect vehicle collided with a fixed object during the shooting and then fled the area. The vehicle was located by police after leaving a visible trail of engine fluids leading to the location it was parked.
Melbourne Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene, and during the course of the investigation, Unique Baynard was identified as the shooter.
Baynard stated he was being followed by the victim and was in fear of him; however, this is not corroborated by any of the obtained evidence.
Baynard was arrested on the charge of Attempted Murder and other associated criminal charges.
The shooting victim was not injured in the incident.
