National Hurricane Center Monitors Tropical Wave in Central Atlantic

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a tropical wave developing in the Atlantic that has the potential for development of this system over the next few days, and a tropical depression could form during the early to middle part of next week.

The system is forecast to move westward at 15 to 20 mph over the tropical Atlantic, approach the Windward Islands on Tuesday, and move across the southern Caribbean Sea on Wednesday and Thursday.

Should this system become a named storm, it would be called ‘Bonnie’.

The chance for the system to develop further in five days is a 60-percent chance.

Hurricane season began on June 1 and runs through November 30.
