BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Dr. Donald Kane, age 84, of Viera, Florida, passed away on February 7, 2022, in his home peacefully from natural causes. Dr. Kane was born in December 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He attended Franklin and Marshall University where he was on the wrestling team and The University of Pennsylvania for dental school.
After dental school, he was commissioned in the US Navy and stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Virginia Beach, and San Diego while playing music in the local scenes everywhere he went. When he left active duty, he remained in service to our country, and retired as a Colonel in the US Army Reserves.
He made his way to Florida and found Brevard County as NASA was beginning to dominate the A-1-A scene in Cocoa Beach. As a young musician and an aspiring dental entrepreneur, it was the perfect place to start a dental empire while feeding his musical passion in the evenings performing at local nightclubs.
That is where he met his first wife, Joy, working as a dental assistant for him in the mid-60’s.
With Joy he had three children, Sheryl, Steven, and Wendy. In 1992 he married Carole Hendry with whom he spent the next 30 years.
Dr. Kane is survived by his three children, Dr. Sheryl Kane Beard (Jimacie), Steven Kane (Laura), Dr. Wendy Cooley (Mathew Pilch), and three stepchildren, Robert Hendry (Tammy), William Hendry (Catheryn), and Paul Hendry (Joi Foley). 10 Grandchildren: Ronan Beard, Caleb Beard, Riley Kane, Brody Kane, Don Cooley, Charle Hendry, Josh Hendry, Campbell Hendry, Evin Hendry, and Nik Hendry.
