Palm Bay City Council Approves Commercial Property Enhancement Program

Palm Bay City Council approved the Commercial Property Enhancement Program, a performance-based reimbursement grant awarded to applicants to encourage private investment and improvements to the exterior frontage of commercial properties located on major transportation corridors in Palm Bay.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay City Council approved the Commercial Property Enhancement Program, a performance-based reimbursement grant awarded to applicants to encourage private investment and improvements to the exterior frontage of commercial properties located on major transportation corridors in Palm Bay.

The program aims to enhance and improve the street view of the built environment from the public perspective, making Palm Bay more competitive in attracting new businesses.

The City of Palm Bay’s Community & Economic Development Department will administer the program and determine the eligibility of applicants.

A Commercial Enhancement Committee will review applications and make recommendations regarding proposed enhancements and the award of funding.

The program is subject to funding availability and is awarded on a first-come, first-ready basis, given the eligibility requirements have been fully met.

The CPEP is only available to commercial properties located within the city limits of Palm Bay, having frontage along the following roads:

■  Babcock Street
■  Malabar Road
■  Minton Road
■  Palm Bay Road
■ RJ Conlan Boulevard
■  U.S. 1

Additional program guidelines which can be found here must also be met for a commercial business to be considered.

The program requires a minimum $10,000 investment by the grantee; however, 50 percent of the minimum investment may be in the form of a sweat equity contribution.

The City of Palm Bay will provide matching funds in an amount not to exceed $10,000 on a reimbursement basis.

In no case may an applicant be reimbursed for improvements previously undertaken prior to grant approval. Grant funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis upon proof of receipts, proof of payment, and final inspection by the City of Palm Bay’s Building Department.
