Average daily Space Coast sports visitor spends $92 per person
PETER CRANIS: August Tourist Development Tax (TDT) has come in at $1.823 million – a record for the month of August, making it the 17th consecutive month of “best month for that given month” results. While September has traditionally been the lowest month of the year, this has not been the case the last two years, and if we exceed last September’s $1.38 million, we will hit $23.1 million in total TDT for the year.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Tourist Development Council and the Board of County Commissioners have approved seven sports events for the Fiscal Year 2022-23.
Four of the events are from Cycle 2 of our regular sports grant program and three of the events are under the category of New Sports Events which have not previously been held in the county for a total award amount of $95,790 and could generate 7,450 room nights.
Most recent research shows an average daily sports visitor spending of $92 per person with an average of 2.2 people per room. This would equate to a total visitor spending of $1.5 million or an ROI of 15.7:1.

PETER CRANIS: There are a lot of choices when it comes to beach destinations within Florida and certainly outside as well. We have to remain competitive by promoting all that we have to offer and what makes us different such as launches and space. It is a combination of telling our story and working every sales channel we can that will keep us at the front of the pack.
