Mayor Medina earned the prestigious commendation thanks to his quick thinking on a ride-along with Officer Caitlynn Trenor. While on patrol, Mayor Medina and Officer Trenor responded to a call reporting an individual suffering a heart attack.

The duo was able to move the man and render CPR until EMS officials arrived. The man was taken to the hospital where he recovered.

“First, I would like to offer my congratulations to all the award recipients and express my sincere thanks for their dedicated and distinguished service,” said Mayor Medina.

“It is an honor to serve all the people of Palm Bay and I believe God placed Officer Trenor and myself on that call so that we could do His work in saving that gentleman’s life.”

“It is always an honor and pleasure for me to celebrate the accomplishments of our employees. I’m proud of their selfless dedication to our City and our community. I am honored to serve them,” said Police Chief Nelson Moya.

“This year, I had the unique privilege to present a Life-Saving Award to Mayor Rob Medina, the first time such an award has been bestowed upon an elected official. As without first responders, I thank the Mayor for his quick actions that lead to a life being saved.”
