BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation arrived on August 17 to perform an on-site assessment of the Satellite Beach Police Departments’ compliance with 260 professional standards.
The Accreditation team consisted of three law enforcement professionals from across the state, who conducted a 3-day intensive review of all of our policies and procedures, and interviewed staff and sworn members of our Department.
Accreditation requires that our Department complies with the highest standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
“All aspects of our Department are governed by CFA standards, including everything from handling property and evidence to internal affairs, training and recruitment, use of force, special operations, and other critical areas” said Satellite Beach police officials.
“Earning CFA accreditation is a distinction that ensures our Department is meeting or exceeding the highest standards in accountability, transparency, and safety.”
Satellite Beach police officials said that after a complete review of 260 standards, the CFA Assessors will recommend our full re-accreditation to the Commission in October.
“This will be the seventh accreditation assessment for their agency, which was initially accredited in 2000,” said Satellite Beach police officials. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
