Sea Turtle ‘Henry’ Finds Home at Brevard Zoo After Being Stranded in New Smyrna Beach

Henry has a large load of tumors, including a large one growing on the top of the head

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – ‘Henry’, a juvenile green sea turtle, was found stranded in New Smyrna Beach on August 25 and admitted into the Brevard Zoo on the same day.

Volusia Marine Science Center responded to their stranding and had Henry transferred to the Brevard Zoo as they do not have a program for fibropapillomatosis-positive sea turtles.

This sea turtle has a large load of tumors, including a large one growing on the top of the head connecting to its left eyelid.

Henry is already eating and getting used to his time in rehab.
