2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from over 15,000 Finalists
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced this year’s National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners on Tuesday.
The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.
“We are proud to announce that three Holy Trinity seniors are recipients of this prestigious award. Congratulations to Dhyana Mishra, Jonathan Nunes, and Faizan Zaidi!” said a Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy spokesperson.
This year’s National Merit Scholarship Program began in October 2021 when high school juniors took the PSAT/NMSQT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
Last fall, the highest-scoring participants in each state, representing less than one percent of the nation’s high school seniors, were named Semifinalists on a state-representational basis.
In addition to Dhyana, Jonathan, and Faiz, Brynne Mittleider, Jose (Fefe) Montalvo, Eleanor Riggs, Kiran Shay, and Isaac Tichy were among the 16,000+ Semifinalists who continued in the competition.
“This is a huge honor and distinction. We are so very proud of all our NMS finalists and winners,” said a Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy spokesperson.
