Todd Pokrywa, above right, the philanthropic president of The Viera Company in Brevard County on Florida’s Space Coast, is at it again, this time at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer tournament in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. “I was proud and honored to play on Team Viera alongside Assistant Captain Taylor Accursi, above left, most recently Buffalo Beauts Captain in the PHF,” said Pokrywa.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Todd Pokrywa, the philanthropic president of The Viera Company in Brevard County on Florida’s Space Coast, is at it again, this time at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer tournament in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.

Last June, Pokrywa traveled to his childhood hometown of Toronto, Canada, to participate in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Bay Street Tournament fundraiser. and, in his winning style, was the highest fundraiser and successfully raised more than $7,500 for the cause.

More recently, Pokrywa represented The Viera Company and the top-selling master-planned community of Viera, Florida as the Captain of Team Viera at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer tournament.

This is the world’s largest road hockey tournament that raised $2.6 million this year, and Team Viera was a top 25 fundraising team in the tournament that included 140 teams and approximately 1,500 players.

“I was proud and honored to play on Team Viera alongside Assistant Captain Taylor Accursi (most recently Buffalo Beauts Captain in the PHF), NHL Alumni and 60-goal scorer Dennis Maruk, Kendra Fisher (previously of Team Canada and now a professional speaker regarding mental health), Jillian Moffatt (Almtuna-IS Swedish ice hockey club), Steve Kanellakis (Managing Partner IDYSPACE), Len Fragomeni (Founder’s Original CEO), Stewart Busbridge (COO DRI Capital), Claude Parrell (Metro Freightliner Sales), Patrick Kerr (Science Dept Head at Loyola Secondary School), and backstopped by goaltender David Arrigo (renowned celebrity and sports artist),” said Pokrywa.

“This was a special group of people that I hope to reunite with next year. I rejoined Kanellakis and Fragomeni for this cause after recently playing with them on the Boom 97.3 team during the June Hockey Helps the Homeless Bay Street tournament in Toronto.

“In addition, I grew up playing road hockey with Team Viera’s Kerr, Busbridge and Parrell just outside Toronto while attending elementary and high school.”

As a top 10 individual fundraiser, Pokrywa also participated in the Fundraisers vs. Celebrities game, which featured NHL Alumni Jeremy Roenick, Doug Gilmour, Shayne Corson, Brad May, Mike Krushelnyski, Al Iafrate, Darryl Sittler, Rick Vaive, John LeClair, Wendel Clark, PJ Stock, women’s pros Sarah Nurse and Jayna Hefford, among others.

“Great players, and even better people, came together for an important cause benefiting one of the top five cancer centers in the world,” said Pokrywa. “I am grateful to all of my teammates, as well as our sponsors and supporters, that made this exceptional experience possible.”
