Tropical Storm Chantal Forms in North Atlantic; No Threat to Land Through Next Five Days

Tropical Storm Chantal has formed in the North Atlantic. It is no threat to land through the next five days.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA– Tropical Storm Chantal has formed in the North Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of 11 p.m., Chantal was centered at 40.2 degrees north, 56.2 degrees west or more than 450 miles southeast of Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada.

It had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1010 mb.

Chantal, the third named storm in the Atlantic in 2019, was moving east at 19 mph.

The storm is expected to maintain its tropical storm status for the next five days as it meanders around the northern Atlantic Ocean.
