Titans jumped from No. 4 to No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I Poll
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – For the first time in program history, the Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team is the No. 1 team in the country.
The Titans jumped from No. 4 to No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I Poll released on Monday afternoon.
“We are very humbled and thankful to have our program recognized as the No. 1 team in the nation, without the support of the players, staff, and administration, we could not do this,” Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball coach MJ Baker said.
“I am very excited and humbled for the respect, but at the same time, I know we have to continue to get better every day and show that we are one of the best teams in the country.”
Eastern Florida State College is 13-0 this season and is also No. 1 in the state Region 8 poll for the second straight week.
Gulf Coast State College is No. 2 in the poll, with Southern Idaho, South Georgia Tech, and Blinn College rounding out the top five. Northwest Florida State College is No. 7, Pensacola is No. 12, and Indian River State is No. 19.
The Titans will travel to Hillsborough Community College for a 5:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
