BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol released more information on the fatal crash involving a pedestrian on I-95 Tuesday afternoon near Wickham Road.
State troopers say the crash killed a 17-year-old male from Melbourne.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:17 p.m. when a White Ford Taurus, driven by a 71-year-old Melbourne man, was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 in the right lane and was traveling across the overpass for CR-509 (Wickham Rd).
State troopers say the 17-year-old was a pedestrian on the east shoulder when he walked into the path of the Ford Taurus.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver attempted to render aid and remained on scene. It is unknown why was on Interstate 95, Sgt. K. Hildreth with Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
