BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA – Two people were killed Saturday night in Brevard County when a motorcycle crashed on U.S. 1 and Ruby Street near Suntree.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said the investigation has revealed that a 19-year-old Indialantic man was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 on a 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6L with an 18-year-old Palm Bay woman as his passenger.
The crash happened around 11:07 p.m. when a 2019 Toyota Tundra pickup truck made a U-turn to travel south on U S. 1 in front of the motorcycle. According to the FHP spokesperson, the driver of the motorcycle failed to slow down ahead of the truck and ran into the back of the pickup truck.
“As a result of the crash, both riders on the bike were ejected from the bike and died at the scene of the crash,” said the FHP spokesperson. “The impact of the crash caused the pickup truck to run off the roadway and strike a guardrail.”
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
