BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department is investigating a crash that left a 90-year-old man dead early Tuesday morning.
Police say the two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of South Harbor City Blvd. and East Hibiscus Blvd. just after 6:15 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates the crash happened when the driver of a 2012 Kia Soul was traveling northbound on Harbor City Blvd. and attempted to make a left turn onto Hibiscus Blvd. where he collided with a southbound 2016 Chevy Tahoe.
The driver of the Kia is identified as 90-year-old Ismael Rivera of Palm Bay.
He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical center with injuries described as life-threatening. He later died as a result of his injuries.
