Allegiant Airlines recently announced that it would be returning to Orlando International Airport by adding three new flights that will begin in the spring of 2024.
In addition to that, the airline also announced plans to add another flight at Orlando’s Sanford International Airport.
This will be the first time since early 2022 that Allegiant has added a new airport to its routes, and the new flights are set to service destinations that include Asheville, North Carolina, and Knoxville, Tennessee. This is very positive news for an industry that is still, in many ways, picking up the pieces from the disruptions of the last few years.

This was short-lived, as the airline then decided to shift its focus to Orlando Sanford International Airport in 2011 instead. Returning to Orlando International over a decade later underscores the projected growth of travel in the region and of the airline itself. The airport has said they are expecting over two million passengers to come through its doors over a 12-day period this year, an increase of 17% as compared to 2022.
Orlando International is expecting November 25th to be the busiest day of all during this period, with a staggering expectation of over 185,000 passengers passing through. Thankfully, the airport has prepared for the influx of travelers by expanding the parking facilities, including adding new overflow options.
For those who will be traveling through Orlando International over Thanksgiving, there are some basic things to consider that might make it a smoother process. To make sure you don’t get stuck at security checkpoints, remember to follow TSA’s 3.4oz liquid limit, and consider their 3-2-1 rule, as well.
