Annual ABC Awards – Applauding Brevard’s Champions – Set Feb. 1 at Radisson Resort in Cape Canaveral

The annual ABC (Applauding Brevard’s Champions) Awards Gala, presented by Champion Sponsor Community Credit Union and Super Star Sponsor Connection Public Sector Solutions, and co-hosted by Brevard Schools Foundation and Brevard Public Schools, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Radisson at the Port, Cape Canaveral.

The evening will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. with entertainment provided by musical groups from the Brevard Public Schools and live-streamed interviews of honorees by Space Coast Daily. The Awards Dinner follows at 6 p.m. and will be live-streamed in coordination with Space Coast Daily.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The annual ABC (Applauding Brevard’s Champions) Awards Gala, presented by Champion Sponsor Community Credit Union and Super Star Sponsor Public Sector Solutions, and co-hosted by Brevard Schools Foundation and Brevard Public Schools, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Radisson at the Port, Cape Canaveral.

During the annual celebration, Brevard Public Schools announces their annual award winners from various categories including: Administrators of the Year, Volunteers of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year (first year teachers), Emerging Teacher of the Year (second year teachers), and the Teacher of the Year (TOY).

The six finalists for the 2023-2024 Employee of the Year Award are:

■ Kelli Szymanski, Clerk at Discovery Elementary School
■ Valerie L. Lance, Bookkeeper at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School
■ Jessica Reed, Instructional Assistant at John F. Kennedy Middle School
■ Terri Bagby, Before and After School Coordinator at Quest Elementary School
■ Timothy Cannon, Transportation Department Foreman
■ Ruth TeMaat, ESOL Instructional Assistant at Westside Elementary School

The six finalists for the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year Award are:

■ Jeffrey Draves – Social Studies Teacher at Viera High
■ Chef Michelle Noble – Culinary Arts Teacher at Titusville High
■ Deborah Price – 6th Grade Teacher at Riviera Elementary
■ Colleen Rockstraw – School Counselor at Southwest Middle
■ Alicia Street – Content Specialist at School District
■ Ashley Varela – 6th Grade Teacher at Endeavour Elementary

The BPS Teacher of the Year winner will be announced at the ABC Awards on February 1.

The evening will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. with entertainment provided by musical groups from the Brevard Public Schools and live-streamed interviews of honorees by Space Coast Daily.

The Awards Dinner follows at 6 p.m. and will be live-streamed in coordination with Space Coast Daily.
