BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well folks, another one is in the record books and this one was a doozy as over 150 BCSO family members either played in or spectated, during the BCSO 11th Annual Thanksgiving Morning “Turkey Bowl” Flag Football Game!

The annual Thanksgiving Day event held at Viera High School pits our Command Team combined with our SWAT Team members against me and the rest of our agency in a fun filled, but highly competitive, Flag Football Game.

While the last few years have seen the Command Team, better known as the “Allstars”, literally run away with the coveted “Turkey Bowl” trophy, this year had a much different result, as the “Stargazers” regained the title with the final score of 35-21.

While most of the first half went back and forth, the “Stargazers” then started to get their timing down and turned it on in the second half with a strong offensive presence and back to back interceptions on the goal line, to keep the “Allstars” out of the end zone.

In the end, it was a great game that at times could have gone either way, but this year’s trophy went home with the “Stargazers” as the Command Team and their buddies from our amazing SWAT Team went home empty handed.

In all seriousness folks, this is what friendship, team unity, and all around fun, truly look like, and I could not be more proud of our agency for all they do, as they work side by side to keep our community safe.

When you ask me what I am thankful for, it’s simple…I am thankful to be part of one of the most professional agencies in the country that is comprised of 1,700 incredible men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day to keep their community safe.

A special thank you to Deputy Vinny Marino-Vitani and his brother Steve Vitani of Remax Elite for volunteering to referee today’s game, Viera High School for letting us use their field, and Viera High School Athletic Director Cheryl Draves for opening up the field today, so we could have some good ole’ fashioned BCSO fun.
