BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –This morning, I was honored to present the “Sheriff’s Great Kid Award” to Quinn Beebe of Enterprise Elementary after hearing a truly heartwarming story about an idea he had that involved helping homeless pets right here in Brevard County.
The “Sheriff’s Great Kid” Award was created by our agency to recognize those kids in our community that “do it right!!”
Unfortunately, our Law Enforcement Officers and Teachers spend the majority of their time dealing with kids that don’t do it right, so a few years ago our agency created the “Sheriff’s Great Kid” Award to recognize great kids who make their parents, teachers, and community proud.
Near the end of last year, Quinn told his parents he wanted to earn money by opening a hot cocoa stand in his neighborhood for the neighbors and people who came by.
His parents agreed and they came to a decision that half of his earnings would be donated to a worthy charity. Quinn decided that he wanted the money to go to the local SPCA in Titusville, to help the animals looking for their forever homes.
Quinn worked hard over several nights in December, spreading Christmas cheer, along with some tasty cocoa, to everyone that came by.
At the end of the month, Quinn totaled his earnings, and learned he had made about $800!! Quinn recently went to the SPCA and proudly presented them a check for $400.
Quinn is seen by his teachers as a kind and respectful student, and his actions here truly exemplify his outstanding character!! Please join me in congratulating Quinn on his amazing work and for being a great kid.
