Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As we awaken to another beautiful Easter morning, I am reminded of just how blessed we truly are.
As a young man growing up in north Florida and still today, Easter has always been a very special time in my life.
Even though it was celebrated by spending time with family and friends, Easter Egg hunts, and of course great food, it was also a time of faith, reflection, and a day to remember just how truly blessed we are.
Sometimes in our crazy world it’s easy to take things for granted, or even worse, not realize just how good we have it.
Yes, I know at times we can be at odds with our neighbors or even those who don’t think the same as us, but at the end of the day I personally believe we are blessed to be Americans and to live in a country where we are free to have our own opinions, celebrate our religious freedoms and to openly celebrate the amazing significance of today in our own way.
While Easter is a time to remember sacrifices and suffering, it is also a time to rejoice, to give thanks, and to unite in faith. In America, our faith guides us in our search for strength, for peace, and in our blessings of the many freedoms we enjoy.
So today, as we pause to reflect on the true meaning of Easter, I ask you to take time out from any worries you may have to remember how blessed we are to live in America and to have an amazing community that serves as a model for other communities to follow.
