Brevard County Woman Arrested for Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession of Meth

Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

Tara Kidder is being held on a “No Bond” status for Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Mushrooms, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Last night, while we were all sleeping safe and sound in our beds, our East Precinct Deputies were out peacekeeping, when around 3:00 a.m. in the morning they came across a suspicious vehicle parked at the BP Gas Station, on the Merritt Island Causeway.

As Sgt. John Jennings stopped out with the vehicle and approached the driver, he observed Tara Kidder sound asleep, like a bug in a rug behind the wheel, with a container of ice cream in her lap.

Now first of all, who falls asleep with half eaten ice cream as that seems like a crime in itself, but things got even worse for Kidder after Sgt. Jennings woke her up from her little nap, as she decided that right then was all of a sudden a great time to clean up her car and throw away her trash in a nearby garbage can including her Taco Bell bag and a few other items as well.

I guess she thought this was our first rodeo and that we wouldn’t be wise to her little attempt to hide her drugs in the garbage can, however that little plan was foiled when Deputy Weston and FTO Matthias arrived on scene and retrieved the “trash” Kidder had thrown away.

On top of the Taco Bell bag was a clear baggie that contained approximately 11.3 grams of mushrooms and actually hidden inside the bag was another clear baggie that contained 5.5 grams of a white substance that field tested positive for meth.

When Deputies subsequently searched the vehicle, they also found 2 additional bags in the console, one with 0.7 grams of meth and another with 0.4 grams of cocaine base.

And then, the most concerning find was in Kidder’s backpack where Deputies found 7.8 grams of Fentanyl which is enough to kill 3,900 people if put into a lethal dose.

I’m guessing Taco Bell has recently changed their menu because the last time I ate there everything on the menu might clog your arteries, but wouldn’t instantly kill you.

And yes, as you can tell I have eaten there quite a few times, but not once did I ever order the No. 2 that came with 3 soft chicken tacos, a side of meth, an upsize of fentanyl, and cinnamon twists.

Kidder later admitted to throwing the drugs in the trash can, but said she didn’t know there was Fentanyl in the backpack…man I hate it when that happens.

Ultimately Kidder enjoyed a ride in our courtesy shuttle to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” where she is being held on a “No Bond” status for Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Mushrooms, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On a more positive note, the food at the Brevard County Jail can sometimes have the same effects as Taco Bell, but it in no way tastes as good!! Remember folks…if you’re going to be a drug dealer, don’t do it in Brevard County because the only place you’ll end up is behind bars!!
