Brevard County Woman Stabs Her Mother to Death in Barefoot Bay, Arrested for Manslaughter

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 49-year-old Kelly Tinsley of Barefoot Bay for causing the death of her mother, 69-year-old Cheryl Meurer on January 8, 2024, at a residence on Sea Gull Drive in Barefoot Bay.

Tinsley was arrested after an arrest warrant was issued by Judge Kelly Ingram charging her with Manslaughter Reclassified with the use of a Weapon.

Tinsley is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex on a No Bond status.

The investigation began yesterday morning when deputies responded to the residence at approximately 5:15 a.m., in reference to the report of an injured woman.

Deputies located the victim, identified as Cheryl Meurer, inside the residence.

Meurer had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on evidence collected and statements gathered during the investigation, agents believe that on the evening of January 8, 2024, Tinsley and the victim became involved in a physical altercation that ended with the victim being stabbed to death.
