BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools, along with our partners from The Viera Company and W+ J Construction Corporation, celebrated the opening of the new building addition at Viera High School with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new building includes eight classrooms, three science labs, and space for the Brevard Learners Achieving Success Transition program.

The 20,000-square-foot building will also house Career & Technical Education programs and the Choir program.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said that while the district is fortunate to have a beautiful new building, the inside is what is important because that is where the teaching and learning will happen. Brevard Public Schools Facilities Services Team is thankful for the

dedication of The Viera Company and the hard work of the W+J Construction Corporation on this project. The cost of the project is approximately $8,500,000 and is fully funded through educational impact fees.

School Board Chair Mat Susin said the new space is needed for the school’s growing enrollment and will allow students to better prepare for their postsecondary education.

This is the most recent project completed as part of BPS’s growth. Other projects include a new building at South Lake Elementary School and a new cafetorium at Mims Elementary School which opened this school year.

The new middle school that is currently under construction in Viera is expected to be completed by August 2024 and expansion at West Melbourne School for Science will begin soon. A new classroom building at MILA Elementary is planned shortly.
