BPS: As Hurricane Idalia moves closer to Florida’s west coast, Brevard Public Schools has made the decision to close school on Wednesday, August 30. Please note that all after-school activities will go on as scheduled today and we do expect schools to reopen on Thursday, August 31.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As Hurricane Idalia moves closer to Florida’s west coast, Brevard Public Schools has issued a statement that BPS officials have made the decision to close school on Wednesday, August 30:

The county remains under a Tropical Storm Warning and winds tomorrow morning could reach more than 35 miles per hour, sustained.

If that happens, the wind speed would be too dangerous to have school buses on the roads. Each day in the classroom is important and we try very hard to protect the time our teachers have with students, but our number one priority is to make sure each student and staff member is safe.

Please note that all after-school activities will go on as scheduled today and we do expect schools to reopen on Thursday, August 31.
