Brevard Public Schools Board District 3 Candidate John Thomas raised $28,703 in contributions during his campaign’s first month, according to a press release issued by the Thomas campaign.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools Board District 3 Candidate John Thomas raised $28,703 in contributions during his campaign’s first month, according to a press release issued by the Thomas campaign.

“This remarkable financial support highlights the community’s recognition of John’s strong leadership qualities and his dedication to serving the district,” said a spokesperson for the Thomas campaign.

Expressing deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, Thomas said, “The overwhelming support is humbling. I am grateful for the community’s faith in my leadership and vision for our schools.

“Together, we will work to unite people toward the common goal of providing our kids with the highest quality education in the best, most supportive environment possible.”

Thomas said he will address key issues such as school safety and discipline, teacher and staff retention, academic performance and achievement enhancement, and the strengthening of Brevard Public Schools vocational training programs.

“With a diverse background in education, athletics, law enforcement, and business, John possesses a wealth of well-rounded experience and proven, stable, common-sense leadership, making him the ideal candidate for the Brevard County School Board,” said a spokesperson for the Thomas campaign.

“Throughout his career, John Thomas has made significant contributions to the community. As a field training officer and narcotics detective, he played a crucial role in training and mentoring police officers, combating drug trafficking, and ensuring community safety.”

Transitioning to working with children, Thomas served as a School Resource Officer and Executive Director of the Greater Melbourne Police Athletic League, inspiring South Brevard’s youth to reach their full potential and building trust between law enforcement and the community.

“Thomas’ coaching abilities and dedication to mentoring young people have had a lasting impact,” said a spokesperson for the Thomas campaign.

“As a high school administrator and head football coach at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, his teams achieved remarkable success, securing two District Championships and producing numerous collegiate athletes who earned opportunities to attend esteemed institutions such as the University of Notre Dame, Harvard, and others.”

He was honored three times as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s District Coach of the Year.

Thomas served as a two-term member of the Melbourne City Council and contributed to the Airport Authority Board overseeing the Melbourne-Orlando International Airport, advocating for public safety, fiscal responsibility and infrastructure improvements.

He also held leadership positions at the Florida Institute of Technology, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the university’s first NCAA Division II football program and fostering valuable corporate partnerships.

He currently serves as the CEO of the Home Builders and Contractors Association of Florida’s Space Coast and volunteers as a board member for Neighbor Up Brevard, demonstrating his dedication to the welfare and progress of the region.

“With his unique experience in education, athletics, law enforcement, business, and community engagement, John Thomas exemplifies an experienced leader who understands the demands of effective leadership,” said a spokesperson in a release.
