BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The City of Cocoa is now accepting applications for the Cocoa Works Summer Youth Employment Program.

Explore opportunities in Information Technology, Leisure Services, Records, Human Resources, and Utilities.

Before applying, please make sure you will be able to fully participate. This program is time-intensive and should be carefully considered by highly committed students. If you are planning to take a vacation or go to school during the program, then this is not the program for you. All candidates will be drug tested and background checked.

Please note the Commitment and School Certification Form below must be downloaded, filled out, signed, and then uploaded to this application.

Application is not complete without this form completed in full. This application cannot be saved once started, so have this form complete before filling out the application below.

To be Eligible, Applicants Must:

■ All current juniors or seniors (planning to graduate in May 2024), with good academic standing are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to Cocoa residents.

■ Minimum age is 16 years old. Some positions have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
Commit to full participation in the Cocoa Works Program.

■ Have a desire to develop and utilize financial, work readiness, and work experience skills.

■ Be able to provide or arrange their transportation for all program components.

Successful Completion of the Program Includes Approximately:

■ 25 hours of Work Readiness Training

■ 125 hours of paid work experience

■ Please complete each section in full.

■ Type or print legibly in black ink.

■ Include necessary signatures.

■ Complete applications must be received no later than April 28, 2023 (please keep a copy of your application).

Selection Process:

■ A City of Cocoa and CareerSource rating committee will review all applications and select candidates. Selected Cocoa Works participants will be notified in May.

■ This is a needs-based program. Selection criteria will be based on the financial need of the applicants. Additional documentation may be requested.

2024 Program Dates:

■ March 8, 2024 – Applications Open

■ April 29, 2024 – Application Deadline

■ April 29-May 3, 2024 – Program & NextGen Pre-Screening Interviews

■ May 6-10, 2024 – Foundations Training Week at CareerSource Brevard (Rockledge)

■ May 24, 2024 – Payroll paperwork due

■ June 3-7, 2024 – Match up week (Students will be notified about their internship placement)

■ June 7, 2024 – New Hire Orientation at Cocoa City Hall

■ June 10-July 12, 2024 – Paid Work Experience, 25 hours per week at $13/hour

■ July 23, 2024 – Graduation at the Cocoa City Council Meeting
