BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College won both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans defeated St. Petersburg College 10-0 in five innings and then 4-1 to win the Citrus Conference series and are now 10-11 in the conference.

In Game 1, Kenneth Robinson was once again on top of his game as he allowed three hits over five shutout innings, striking out five and allowing just three hits.

The Titan’s defense turned three double plays in the game as St. Petersburg did not have a runner get into scoring position.

While Robinson and the defense were smothering St. Petersburg, the Titans offense scored 10 times over five innings.

Carlos Cordero led off the game with a single, stole second, and scored on a ground ball to make it 1-0. Then in the second inning, a two-run single by Jeff Davis and then a two-run triple by Ryan Cerrone broke the game open.

Up 5-0 after two innings, the Titans would score five times in the fifth inning to end the game.

Robinson improved to 6-2 on the season and has now won three straight starts. Cordero, Cerrone and Laheim Bell each had two hits in the game.

In Game 2, a trio of pitchers held St. Petersburg to one run on four hits as they would complete the sweep.

David Morrissey got the start and tossed four shutout innings, getting out of a jam in the third inning as Hector Mangual made a diving stop, flipped to Cordero, who turned the double play to end the threat.

An RBI single by Kevin Smith in the fourth got the Titans on the board and they would add another run as Ryan Cerrone hit a double down the right field line and an errant throw allowed him to round third and score.

Up 2-0, Jake Cooper made it 3-0, scoring in the sixth and then Luke Lambert scored in the seventh to make it 4-0. St. Petersburg would get a run in the eighth, but Anthony Cordero shut the door for the save.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Seminole State College on Tuesday for a non-conference game before beginning a series with first-place Polk State College beginning Thursday.
