BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College baseball player Hector Mangual was named the NJCAA Region VIII Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Mangual, a sophomore from Orlando, hit .500 last week with multiple hits in three of the four games, helping the Titans take a Citrus Conference series win against Florida Southwestern.

The shortstop also made several nice plays in the field and had a triple and a stolen base.

For the season, Mangual is hitting .382 with 23 runs scored and has driven in 18. He has at least one hit in 12 of the past 13 games for the Titans.

Mangual becomes the first Titan to be named the Region VIII Player of the Week since KC Swords in 2020.

The Titans will begin a conference series with St. Petersburg College on Thursday, traveling to St. Petersburg on Thursday for a 3 p.m. game before hosting them on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
